Judge says Rams must refund PSL deposits or provide tickets to some in St. Louis

A St. Louis federal judge ruled Wednesday that the Rams must refund deposits to some fans who have purchased personal seat licenses during two decades of the franchise in the city and offer others the opportunity to buy tickets season for games in Los Angeles.

The decision of US District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh, Jr. came in three lawsuits - later consolidated into one case - filed in the weeks after the NFL owners voted in January to approve the relocation of Rams to L.A ..

At issue are about 46,000 personal security licenses to buy season tickets to St. Louis first sold FANS, Inc., the ticket agent the Rams, and subsequently offered by the franchise.

In the 13-page ruling, the judge said contracts with FANS, Inc. terminated because of the movement and "the Rams now have" refund deposit ... [s]. "The amount is not clear.


"The court can not grant full judgment on the pleadings because the issue of damages will be entirely related to what constitutes a" deposit "under the contract," said the ruling. "The damage will be determined at a later date."

The contracts with the Rams, however, are not contingent upon reading the team to St. Louis and remain in effect until 2025. The judge called the language difference between contracts "inexplicable."

"In short, the agreement requires that the Rams Rams to use best efforts to get tickets for seats at games where the home games are played transferred," the decision said.

A spokesman for the Rams said the team does not comment on pending litigation.

Two prosecution argued that personal safety license agreements remain valid and requested the right to buy tickets for games in L.A. The decision found the allegations unfounded if licenses were purchased by FANS, Inc.

The third complaint, filed by St. Louis resident Ronald McAllister, argued that the move invalidated the contract and asked for refunds.
